Quito, Ecuador’s new international airport is expected to be operational and open by February 2013, delayed from its original Oct 2012 projected opening. The new airport is located in the Tababaela Valley, about 11 miles northeast of Quito.
The cost of domestic flights within Ecuador including flights from Quito and Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands and flights to the Amazon will increase this year (2012).

On October 20, 2010 Ecuador’s Ministry of Environment reorganized the payment structure for visits to State Protected Areas. From this date onwards, a one-price-for-all system applies, regardless of nationality. The new prices benefits foreign visitors with a 50% reduction in most cases.
